I’m thrilled to announce the release of David Underwood’s 1st album “GRATEFUL.”  Finding and producing exceptional artists is always gratifying, but in this case, the word joyful springs to mind.  The joy of producing great talent!

When it comes to home grown talent, David Underwood checks off all the boxes.  From a musical pedigree that includes Gregory Underwood (father) and Veronica Underwood (aunt) to an education from Philadelphia’s High School for the Creative and Performing Arts followed by the study of Jazz Voice Performance at Temple University, David is a true reflection of Philadelphia’s depth of cultural education, opportunity and talent.

A staple at some of the region’s most celebrated clubs, David’s performance venues also include The Philadelphia Museum of Art, The Academy of Music, The Kimmel Center, World Café Live, Plays and Players Theatre, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and New York City’s Lincoln Center.

GRATEFUL is a sensitive, time honored collection of songs from the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s celebrating love, loss and longing, and is dedicated to family members who instilled David’s unwavering appreciation for music.

Recorded at Philadelphia’s famed Milkboy the Studio and engineered by Jeff Chestek, GREATFUL features Underwood on piano and vocals with guitar accompaniment by Greg Snyder.  To celebrate the launch, as the album’s producer, I’ve directed a music video of Underwood performing AUTUMN, words and music by David Shire and Richard Maltby, Jr, Director of Photography, Frank Cerami, Makeup/Styling, Drea Richard, released simultaneously with the album.  *Very special thanks to an extraordinary Director of Photography, Frank Cerami.
